ACDS, Inc. is dedicated to providing lifetime resources and services of exceptional quality for children and adults with Down syndrome, Autism and other developmental disabilities.
The ACDS Pelham branch, located in Pelham, provides preschool special education programs consisting of 8:1:2 and 12:1:2 classes.
ACDS Pelham is looking for a licensed Occupational Therapist (OT) specializing in pediatrics to join our dynamic multidisciplinary team! The OT is responsible for the remediation of children with a wide range of disabilities/delays. Areas addressed include fine motor, gross motor, visual-perceptual and self-help skills. The OT will utilize a variety of strategies including sensory integration and adaptive techniques to help students reach their maximum potential. The OT contributes goals to the Individual Educational Plan (IEP) and will work on these target objectives throughout the school year. The OT will provide quality individual and group sessions in person while working at our center-based program (no traveling required).
30 hours per week, full-time position
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday 8:30am to 3:00pm
Wednesday 8:30am to 3:30pm
Friday 8:30am to 2:30pm
Key responsibilities of the Occupational Therapist include:
The OT will provide and direct occupational therapy services to students as per their IEP mandates.
The OT will develop treatment plans to achieve identified goals.
The OT will adhere to applicable principles and practices of occupational therapy, NBCOT policies/procedures, and state regulations.
The OT will work collaboratively with SLPs, PT's, school psychologists, behavioral team, and classroom staff as needed to provide positive treatment outcomes.
The OT will work effectively with parents, teaching staff and other professionals directly involved in the care and treatment of the child to develop and monitor IEP services
The OT will complete all necessary paperwork accurately and timely (e.g., daily session notes, quarterly progress reports, annual reviews, etc.).
The OT will participate in meetings and consultations with education staff and the multidisciplinary team concerning the needs of each child as related to his/her mandated services and progress updates
Qualifications:
Valid New York State Occupational Therapist license
Master's Degree from an accredited program
NPI number
Pediatric experience is preferred
New Graduates with pediatric experience will be considered
