Front End Supervisor

Role and Responsibilities:
Fairway Market wants to ensure that all of our customers are receiving the best shopping experience each time they walk into our store. The Front End Supervisor is an integral part of the Fairway Market experience. As a Front End Supervisor, you work on the sales floor to proactively engage customers and provide a lasting impression for customer loyalty. Additionally, you will be training, directing and supervising clerks in the department.
The following are role and responsibilities of the Front End Supervisor position:
Department-specific Responsibilities:
Perform tasks essential to daily operations such as attending to cashier and register inquiries, performing necessary supervisor overrides and continuous on-the-job training and development .
Lead by example and perform all tasks expected of team members such as scanning items, bagging and proactively assisting customers
Monitor the parking lot for litter, and shopping carts. Ensure all litter is picked up and shopping carts are returned to designated area.
Ensure prompt, efficient and friendly customer service by all cashiers, baggers and parking lot attendants
Ensure strict cash control and money handling techniques and procedures. Retrain cashiers on an as-needed basis
Direct customer traffic on the Front End and manage opened registers to maintain excellent customer service levels
Familiarize with store layout and products to efficiently assist customer inquiries
Attend to customer inquiries in regards to price differentials and very prices of products again the shelf price of the item; communicate any pricing discrepancy to the Front End Manager
Collect money from cashier, make change and monitor accurate tills with no overages or shortages of money.
Assist in replenishing register supplies such as bags and receipt tape.
Ensure accurate department signage, pricing and merchandising.
Operate relevant equipment in a safe and productive manner.
General Responsibilities:
Proactively engage customers, promote product and sales, build customer relationships, and provide G.R.E.A.T. customer service that encourage customer loyalty and add value to the Fairway brand
Work collaboratively with fellow employees and managers and recognize teamwork and diversity throughout the store to resolve conflicts respectfully and in a timely manner.
Maintain a strong time and attendance record to ensure the smooth flow of departmental operations
Maintain a clean and safe work environment by practicing high standards of food and human safety and sanitation techniques provided by Fairway work rules and policies and Health Department Regulations
Replenish department supplies frequently to ensure efficiency of workflow and employee job tasks
Adhere to all department-related and company-related work rules and policies while upholding Fairway's core values of integrity, respect and excellence
Perform miscellaneous roles assigned by management that would help the team on an as-needed basis
Recognize and seek opportunities for continuous learning and supply feedback to management to help improve operations. Attend all required training.
RequirementsSkills and Qualifications:
Candidates who apply for the Front End Supervisor position must possess the following skills:
Good working knowledge of food quality, hygiene and sanitation.
Training Skills
Strong Customer Service skills and ability to interact with other people and participate actively in department and staff meetings
Strong teamwork and diversity awareness and ability to recognize and welcome differences among people and resolve conflicts respectfully and in a timely manner
Organizational and time management skills and ability to prioritize requests and department activities
Problem-solving skills to effectively assist customers in a wide range of different transactions.
Meet physical demands required for the position.
Effective communication skills and ability to read, write and comprehend English
Availability to work weekends, holidays, and other prime times of the business
Work Environment and Physical Demands:
Continuous interaction with customers and coworkers in a fast-paced work environment
Exposure to various food allergens throughout the store
Frequent motions such as standing, walking, kneeling, squatting, bending, lifting, and reaching
Lifting up to 50lbs. and pushing and pulling carts up to 100lbs.
Standing and walking for 4-6 hours at a time

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
