Gemstone Assistant - Temporary
Overview
The primary responsibility for this position revolves around the execution of processes that drive and ensure inventory accountability and accuracy of all gemstones which are supplied to the manufacturing facilities for the production of Tiffany & Co Fine Jewelry & Engagement finished goods. This person will ensure that all transactions involving the materials distribution and inventory of gemstones are accurately accounted for and that the movement of the merchandise is done safely and in a manner consistent with Standard Operating Procedures and Quality Standards. The Gemstone Assistant will support the Gemstone Rep with assignments directed by Department Supervisor with regard to maintaining inventory control of all gemstones. The target for stone inventory accuracy is =/>99% They assist with cycle counting, receipt of, inventory and picking of gemstones to manufacturing work orders. Materials Control and Distribution is to be performed so as to meet all internal customer requirements from initial receiving through final shipping.
Responsibilities
Work safely at all times by consistently following safe work guidelines and procedures for your position, as well as all safety procedures required at your worksite. Maintain a well organized work space consistent with 5S standards and promptly report all heath & safety incidents, risks and issues to your supervisor and/or manager. Understand and adhere to all standard operating procedures for assigned tasks.
Responsible for maintaining inventory accuracy >/=99% of all gemstones through the performance of cycle counts both physical and systematic, and perform daily supporting tasks that include:
Stone verifications.
Detailed melee stone picking.
Ddetailed IR stone picking.
Performing JDE transactions.
Support the monthly demand for Pearl Necklace and Bracelet through:
Pearl Stringing to Tiffany Quality Standards.
Clasp assembly as required.
Assist in special projects/tasks according to business needs. Support rotational department tasks. Attend to all internal customers as required to ensure that all customers are being responded to in a timely manner. Maintain the highest level of courtesy, professionalism and customer service at all times.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
2 years related job experience, and/or GIA training.
Computer skilled, Microsoft Office (all) and Email Skills.
Speak, read write and understand English.
Able to perform repetitive tasks with very small items accurately
Preferred Qualifications:
2 year College degree, and/or GIA Certified.
JDE experience.
Jewelry-Inventory.
Manufacturing background and prior experience.
